US readies huge tariffs on solar cells from Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia

The potential tariffs involve antidumping investigations connected to around $12bn of solar cells exported from Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia, with some specific companies targeted.

In a further escalation of the US trade war, the US Department of Commerce has placed antidumping duties AD and countervailing duties CVD on crystalline photovoltaic cells solar cells arriving into the US from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, according to an April 21 announcement. 

According to the announcement from the International Trade Administration, decided that, following  investigative proceedings, the Department of Commerce has determined that imports of solar cells from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam are being dumped into the US market.
