Nomura lures BAML veteran to head ECM syndicate

The Japanese broker poaches Anshul Trivedi to replace the recently departed Ortwin Gierhake.

Nomura has hired Anshul Trivedi from Bank of America Merrill Lynch to head the bank’s equity syndicate desk for the Asia ex-Japan region, according to an internal memo seen by FinanceAsia on Monday.

The new hire fills the vacancy created when Ortwin Gierhake decided to leave the largest Japanese broker last month after a 10-year stint with the bank.

Trivedi comes with more than 15 years of investment banking experience. At BAML, he was most recently a director at the global markets division. Prior to that, he worked for BNP Paribas and BK Securities, a local Indian brokerage firm.
