Morgan Stanley appoints chief executive for Asia

Owen Thomas flies in from New York while Hans Schuettler heads home to Germany.
Morgan Stanley announced the appointment of Owen Thomas as chief executive for Asia on Tuesday, less than one month after Hans Schuettler surprised the market by resigning from the post to return to Germany with his family.

A 20-year Morgan Stanley veteran, Thomas ran the firmÆs real estate investing business from 1994 and was head of Morgan Stanley real estate from 2000 to 2005. He then became president of Morgan Stanley Investment Management MSIM in December 2005.
