Macquarie buys stake in Guangzhou toll road

Macquarie International Infrastructure Fund buys part of Guangzhou's Hua Nan toll road for Rmb$4 billion.
Given the increase in economic activity in China, logistics and transport is an obvious sector to invest in. Macquarie has followed that logic by buying a 31km stretch of the Hua Nan toll road in Guangzhou, one of ChinaÆs richest and most developed cities.

The deal was done via a 90% stake in South China Highway Development SCHD, a Hong Kong company. Macquarie International Infrastructure Fund MIIF is buying its stake in SCHD from Preciseway Management and Topwise Consultants. These two will retain a 10% stake in SCHD. Macquarie will run the concession until 2026. The original length of the concession was 27 years.
