Frank Gong has been named to the newly created position of managing director, head of research and chief economist for China by JP Morgan. Gong will join the Shanghai office in June and report to Jose M. Linares, headof Asia-ex Japan equity research and Bill Belchere, head of economic research market strategy for Asia.
Gong's new role will comprise monitoring credit and rates, as well as supervising JP Morgan's research expansion and coverage of Chinese companies. Gong will also have all analysts covering China reporting to him.
