HSBC's Webb gets global trade role

Lawrence Webb is to run a global business line from Hong Kong while John Laurens takes on Webb's old payments and cash management role.
HSBC is shuffling personnel in its global trade finance and payments and cash management businesses, announcing the promotion of Lawrence Webb, its current head of regional payments and cash management, to the newly created role of global head of trade services and supply chain. Webb will start the new role from April 1, which combines two previously separate positions.

More significantly, this appointment will mean that Webb will take on a global role and yet be based in Hong Kong - a move which perhaps underscores HSBCÆs commitment to the region. In the Asia-Pacific region, HSBC is seeing the bulk of its trade services profits coming from the continent and evidently sees greater potential...
