HSBC reshuffles senior jobs

The bank transfers Conrado Engel back to Brazil for the top job there, leading to a slew of other changes and the creation of a new commercial banking role.

HSBC announces portfolio changes that affect a number of Hong Kong-based jobs and creates a new commercial banking role.

The moves seem to be precipitated by the decision to elevate Conrado Engel to the role of chief executive officer and president of the bank's Brazil business. Engel is currently regional director of personal financial services for HSBC in Asia-Pacific, based in Hong Kong. He has held this position since early 2007 and was also appointed group general manager in mid-2008. This move takes Engel back to Brazil, where he was previously an executive director.
