Hong Kong skyscraper bond financing is stuff of films

The lobby of Hong Kong skyscraper, The Center, was one of the sets in Hollywood blockbuster The Dark Knight’. The sale of the building and efforts to pull together a $4.1 billion short-term financing package has also been the subject of a corporate drama in recent months. 

Unusually, financiers for the world’s most expensive tower were able to bypass the traditional bank loans and sell very short-term bonds to a handful of institutional investors hungry for the high yield on offer, according to two people familiar with the transaction.
