Green bond credentials tokenised under Project Guardian

Reporting tokens will help with digital and tokenised green bonds, hopefully increasing investor confidence in the space. MAS, the NUS, UOB and Northern Trust’s Matrix Zenith are involved.

On January 13, the National University of Singapore NUS announced the launch of a green bond credentials tokenisation initiative, covering the university’s third green bond issuance of S$340 million $251 million maturing in 2033.

The experiment was run jointly with the lead arranger United Overseas Bank UOB, and the Northern Trust Matrix Zenith digital assets platform.

Green bond reporting tokens, which contain the environmental impact reporting data from the issuance, are minted and held on the Northern Trust platform, and distributed to bond investors through UOB.
