Citi hires economist for Singapore and Malaysia

Kit Wei Zheng joins from the Monetary Authority of Singapore to oversee economic analysis for the two countries.
Citi has appointed Kit Wei Zheng as chief economist for Singapore and Malaysia. Zheng joins the US bank from the Monetary Authority of Singapore's MAS Macroeconomic Surveillance Department, where he has been senior economist since June 2004.

Zheng will be based in Singapore and be part of Citi's economic and market analysis EMA team for Asia-Pacific, which provides economic and market views on Asian economies. He will report to Yiping Huang, head of Citi's regional EMA team.

Zheng takes over from Hak Bin Chua, who will shift his focus to broader regional economic analysis and equity themes across Asia, especially within the Asean Association of Southeast Asian Nations region.
