BGI unveils first international India ETF

Global investors will be given easier, more efficient access to IndiaÆs growth story.
Barclays Global Investors is to launch the first India-focused exchange-traded fund to be listed outside of India. It is listing its iShares MSCI India ETF in Singapore, however, in an attempt to broaden the exposure to international investors.

The fundÆs aim, according to BGIÆs director for North Asia, Joseph Ho, is to provide global investors with a ôconvenient and cost-effectiveö way to access the Indian equities market.

ôThis is a pure commercial product designed for all investors, and not just institutions,ö he says, adding that the minimum investment will be about $428 at launch.
