Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank, has appointed Huang Yiping as managing director and chief economist for emerging Asia in an effort to enhance its macroeconomic research in the region.
Huang, who will be based in Hong Kong, will lead the firm’s coverage of macroeconomic research on China and will have responsibility for Hong Kong and the cross-straits political aspects of relations with Taiwan. He will report to Piero Ghezzi, BarCap’s head of global economics, emerging markets and foreign exchange research, as well as Jonathan Scoffin, head of research, Asia.
